During L. Michelle Media's monthly lab, my colleagues and I had the pleasure to speak with Dr. Nicky E. Collins who Pastors with her husband, Apostle Carlos L. Collins at Higher Dimension Church located in Tallahassee. Her message to the class was to pursue our dreams and to take advantage of every opportunity. Some of the tips I took from her message are to build relationships with people, take adavntage of every opportunity, and #securethebag. The key to having a successful career is to build relationships with people. This could be a professor, manager, colleague, friend, co-worker, stranger, whoever! Having strong relationships with people can take you a long way and open opportunites for yourself. It's not about what you know, it's who you know. Secondly, taking advantage of every opportunity. In life, things will not always work out when you want them to. For example, you may have wanted that public relations manager position at a PR firm, but they chose someone else. Instead, they offer you a intern position with no pay. Are you going to pass up that opportunity or accept it? This is about creating an opportunity for yourself! Lastly, you have to secure the bag by any means necessary. If you have a passion for something, work towards that goal and finish it. It may take months even years to reach but never give up. Anything you want in life requires hard work. At the end of the day, if you put in the work it will definitely pay off in the long run. Just trust the process!
